2021 Masters Rowing Programs

Director of Rowing: Linda Muri

Sweep Coach: Chuck Nagle

Big Boats (Sweep & Scull) Coach: Ala Crockett

The Upper Valley Rowing Foundation masters rowing program is open to all adult rowers who have completed at least one novice rowing program at UVRF or elsewhere, or who have prior rowing experience at the club or collegiate level. Anyone wishing to learn to be a coxswain is very welcome and will be a valuable addition to the group.  This program is also open to high school students with at least one year of high school rowing experience.  Anyone who wants to improve their skills and those who express an interest in competition are all welcome.

This year's masters rowing program is divided into two sessions which will each be offered in the summer and in the fall. All programs will take place at the Kendal waterfront site. Program fees for each session are noted below. Should rowers choose to compete, they will be responsible for racing entry fees, to be determined in advance of each regatta.

UVRF will be hosting a club-wide sprint race in late July (tentatively the weekend of July 25-26, tbd) as well as a fall head-race series (tbd). Please check back for further details as they become available

Coached Masters Rowing: M-W-F from 5:30 to 7:00 AM

This is an opportunity for those who choose to train to compete or choose to train for fitness. This program focuses on maximizing technique and fitness in preparation for summer (1k/2k meter) and fall (5k) racing seasons. Practice lineups and race entries will include options for men's, women's and mixed boats (8+s, 4+s, 4xs, and 2xs) in order to maximize training and create opportunities for all who wish to race. Additionally, with the intent to make the program experience positive and competitive, coaches will determine lineups and race entries and may use seat racing and/or erg testing for boat selection. Maximum number of participants - 20

Coached Big Boats:T-R from 6:30 to 8:00 AM

This is an opportunity for coached sessions for rowers who choose to enjoy the camaraderie of team boats (4s, 4x, and 8+s) while improving their fitness and technique.  Prior sculling and/or sweep experience is required along with the flexibility to row with different team mates in the faster yet more stable platform of big boats compared to small boats (1xs, 2xs, 2-s). Maximum number of participants - 20
